Julie’s Restaurant

Holland Park, London

Loved by A-List celebrities as well as royalty, Bushcrafted took on the refurbishment of the iconic Julie’s Restaurant in Holland Park

The Rolling Stones, Sir Paul McCartney, Kate Moss and Diana, Princess of Wales, all visited Julie’s in its heyday. In order to maintain the restaurants original ornate styling, we began by refurbishing the eclectic fixtures and fittings; including panelling, carvings, plaster mouldings, glass display cases and leaded stainless glass, before we re-installed them into the new design. Walls were removed, steels installed and to provide additional headroom, the basement was excavated and tanked.

Within the challenging design and installation of the M & E services, concealed heating, cooling and ventilation were incorporated into all areas, along with the space planning and design which utilised the clients’ original fixtures and fittings where possible.

New restrooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen, food preparation areas, wine storage, bars and dumb waiter were provided. A hardwood timber staircase, along with a variety of studs walls, coffered ceiling designs, cornices, specialist lighting and joinery were installed. These were then matched with specialist paint finishes and stone and wooden flooring in order to recreate the feel and ambience of the original restaurant.

During the programme, the client purchased the adjoining building which enabled us to design and incorporate additional kitchen space, staff facilities and office and disabled facilities at ground floor level.
